Sabres-Hurricanes: What to watch for

Tonight the Sabres travel to Raleigh to take on the winless Carolina Hurricanes.  Carolina made a huge statement of intent this offseason trading for Jordan Staal and signing Alex Semin.  This has not yet translated to wins for the club as it appears that they have neglected improving their defense.  Cam Ward has already given up 8 goals on only 38 shots this year, a staggeringly bad statistic even if it is only two games into the year.  Look for the Sabres to try to take advantage of what looks to be a below average defense tonight and get ahead early. Tonight will also be Jhonas Enroth’s first start of the season, I think it’s perfect timing with another game against Carolina, this time at home, tomorrow.  As an interesting aside, Steve Ott and Tim Gleason have an interesting personal history that may lead to some extra-curricular activity tonight.  It appears from my research that Gleason may have slept with Ott’s ex-wife while they were still married so be on the lookout for something there.  Looking forward to a good one tonight and as always, any comments or questions can be left below.

Prediction: Sabres 5 Carolina 2

Sabres goals: Vanek, Pominville (2), Grigorenko, Ennis

  1. Matt

Where the hell did you hear about Ott’s ex-wife?

    Otherwise, interesting read.

  2. Thanks, and it was on a message board I frequent.
